Description
Gaba Oolong – Chin Xin Cultivar GABA-Processed Taiwanese OolongHigh Mountain GABA Oolong is a smooth, fruity Taiwanese oolong made for both drinking pleasure and a naturally calming tea experience. It is grown in ShiBi, Yunlin County, Taiwan, at roughly 1, 200–1, 300 meters, and produced from the prized Chin Xin cultivar, hand-picked from high-mountain tea gardens – a distinctive specialty item for oolong programs. GABA tea was first developed through Japanese tea research as a special processing method to raise the natural level of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), a compound associated with relaxation. During production, the leaves are oxidized in a carefully controlled, oxygen-free vacuum chamber, which encourages GABA development while softening the tannins. The medium-brown rolled leaves then receive a light baking for gentle warmth and balance. The liquor is deep orange with an exuberantly fruity, fresh aroma. The flavor recalls ripe berries, strawberry jam and golden raisins, with a smooth, mellow, clean texture and a pleasant tart fruitiness at the finish that is never bitter. Its bright fruit notes are especially refreshing when served iced. Product Profile
