Description
Dharmsala Kangra OP – Single-Origin Himachal Pradesh SFTGFOP1 Black TeaDharmsala Kangra OP is an uncommon single-origin black tea from the misty slopes of Himachal Pradesh, India. Grown at high elevation in the Kangra Valley, it is hand-picked and graded SFTGFOP1 (Special Finest Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe), the top tier of the region's whole-leaf teas. The tea's story goes back to 1882, when the great-great-grandparents of the Dharmsala Tea Company's family arrived in Dharmsala and were drawn to its emerald tea gardens set against snow-capped Himalayan peaks. That same year they founded The Dharmsala Tea Company, and the family legacy continues today. Kangra teas are rarely seen outside India, which makes this a special find for tea explorers and specialty shelves. The liquor is clear and bright golden, the aroma delicate and fragrant, and the flavor smooth and floral with a light, gently brisk character and a clean finish that expresses its Himalayan terroir. It is lighter and more floral than Assam yet distinct from Darjeeling. Best served plain, it works as a morning or afternoon tea, pairs with light pastries, fruit and mild cheeses, and makes a thoughtful gift for customers who enjoy rare origins. Product Profile
