Fukamushi Sencha Kakegawa – Deep-Steamed Asatsuyu Cultivar Green TeaFukamushi Sencha Kakegawa is made in the style of Kakegawa, a region known throughout Japan for high-quality deep-steamed (fukamushi) sencha. It is produced exclusively from the Asatsuyu cultivar, often called "natural gyokuro" because of its naturally sweet, mellow character, and it is harvested during the second flush. For cafes, Japanese restaurants, tea shops and retailers, it is an excellent everyday Japanese green tea with premium credentials. Deep steaming breaks down the leaves further than standard sencha processing, producing a richer, smoother and less astringent cup with an attractive cloudy green color. This is a classic deep-steamed sencha with shimmering, iridescent jade liquor and pleasing aromatics. The aroma carries vaporous notes of summer sea breeze and fresh-baked bread. The flavor offers delicate sweetness with a clean vegetal taste, a smooth texture on the tongue and a finish with zero bitterness and only mild astringency. It lacks the bitterness that can make some green teas challenging, which makes it well suited to daily drinking and to customers new to Japanese tea. Like other green teas, it is naturally rich in antioxidants and L-theanine for a calm, focused lift. Brewing in a kyusu or teapot with a fine filter is recommended to catch the small deep-steamed leaf particles, and the leaves support several infusions. It pairs with sushi, rice dishes, grilled fish and Japanese sweets and also works as an iced green tea. Product Profile
