Description
Keijo Saemidori Sencha – Wholesale Miyazaki Single-Cultivar SenchaKeijo Saemidori Sencha is a luxury Japanese green tea grown in Miyazaki Prefecture on Kyushu, Japan's southern island. The leaves are picked early in the first-flush harvest, lightly steamed in the traditional way and rolled into fine, elegant needles. For tea retailers and cafes, it offers a single-cultivar sencha with a clear story and a notably fresh, umami-forward profile. The Saemidori cultivar was created in 1969 by crossing Yabukita, the most widely grown tea cultivar in Japan, with Asatsuyu, a variety nicknamed "naturally grown gyokuro" because of its sweetness. The resulting bush is valued for its vivid green color, inherent sweetness and deep umami, all of which come through in this sencha. As it infuses, the tea releases an aroma of fresh greens strong enough to fill a room. In the cup it is full, delicate and fresh, with a smooth finish and no bitterness, and it is naturally rich in antioxidants and L-theanine. Product Profile
